Description

The Scotch Malt Whisky Society was founded in Edinburgh in 1983 by Phillip 'Pip' Hills who, while travelling around Scotland in the 1970s, fell in love with whiskies drawn straight from the cask. After convincing some friends to buy a cask of Glenfarclas he expanded his syndicate and in 2004 the Society was purchased by Glenmorangie PLC. Sweet vanilla, gentle oak, apples, pears, lemon, dandelion, butterscotch, molasses, varnish, oranges, mint, cheese, and a hint of old marker pens.
Palate
Powerful yet elegant, with vanilla, honey, oak, and spices. Exotic notes of onion bhajis, yoghurt dip, lemon rind, cardamom, cheesy curry, pineapple juice, pineapple drops, Jamaican ginger cake, and oatcakes. Oily mouthfeel, with molasses, candied macadamias, and cinnamon.
Finish
Lingering notes of tamarind, HP sauce, and a citrus burst. Spicy with cinnamon, nutmeg, burnt orange zest, and molasses. Long finish.
