Description

This 12 year old Islay single malt is heavily peated and harks from Caol Ila distillery. Distilled in 2010, the peated new make aged in a Brunello di Montalcino (Italian red wine) wine hogshead, eventually outturning just 289 bottles. An intriguing, limited bottling by independent bottler Ferg and Harris. Notes of smoked prosciutto and figs.

Nose
Scents of peat, honeyed smoked ham, and the tang of salt that closes wine fruitiness from the special cask finish.
Palate
Starts with an incredible soft sweetness that subsides and is chased by more big smoked meat flavors enhanced by a saline tinge to close.
Finish
A medium finish, neither short nor sweet, given the staying power of its savory bacon notes.
