Nose
Sherry and peat bring a sweet, smoky start with grilled stone fruit, tobacco, and salted fudge. Salt caramel, cigar smoke and mouth-watering stone fruit. Coastal peat, subtle sherry and woody spice, with a floral tinge, furniture polish, raisins, sultanas, old books, leather armchairs, lemon air freshener and sea spray.
Palate
Flakes of sea salt and runny toffee, ashen peat smoke, poached plums and charred apricots. Salt caramel shows first, with cigar ash and desert fruits. Prickly and peppery, heavy on the peat, with dark, treacle-like notes and coastal salinity. Oloroso with dried fruits and walnuts, mingling with a malty, salty, Islay profile.
Finish
Hearty layers of sweet peat, cakey spice, smoked caramel, and peppercorn warmth. A massive finish with all that went before it coming together for a sensation. Smoke comes to the fore, like a dampened campfire – dying and ashy. Long, lingering rich, woody finish.
