Description

Founded in 1992 by Brian Cook, the Vintage Malt Whisky Company set out with the aim to produce a range of malt whiskies from the country's finest distilleries and to present them to independent importers worldwide. The company is perhaps best known for its Cooper's Choice range of single cask bottlings paying homage to the craftsmen who made the perfect casks by exploring cask finishes. This Caol Ila 'Smoking Sherry' expression, bottled in 2021, was initially matured in American Oak before being finished in an Oloroso Sherry Butt, resulting in a wonderful marriage of peat smoke and mouth-coating sweet sherry notes – big, bold and full-bodied.

Thick, oily, Islay smoke with a blast of the sea, brine, seashells, stony beaches, sea spray, dried fruits, caramelised pecans, chocolate orange, almond, cinnamon, clove, cayenne, paprika.
Palate
Sherry character quickly swallowed by smoke and fire, feisty youth, raisins, figs, orange creams, marmalade, dark chocolate, black pepper, aniseed, liquorice, thick smoke, oaky depth, natural oils, sweet and creamy.
Finish
Tar, toasted oak, smoked ham wrapped around a date, lingering smoke and ash, sweet sherry, peaty, smokey.
