Nose
Nose. A complex and inviting nose with deep layers of peat smoke and briny sea air, intertwined with the rich influence of the oloroso sherry cask. Dried fruits like raisins and figs blend with dark chocolate, roasted nuts, and a hint of espresso. Spicy notes of cinnamon and clove add depth, while a subtle balsamic sweetness ties everything together. Palate. On the palate, Caol Ila's signature power shines through. Intense peat smoke and ash are beautifully complemented by sweet sherry notes, caramel, and toasted almonds. The spiciness of nutmeg and black pepper gives a fiery kick, while dried orange peel and pure cocoa create a refined balance. The sherry cask influence is bold yet does not overshadow the Islay character. Finish. The finish is long and layered, with lingering smokiness seamlessly blending with the sweet and spicy sherry notes. Dark berries, oak, and a slight touch of sea salt remain, while a warm, spicy glow leaves a lasting impression.
