Description

This is a Caperdonich 1995 25 Year Old whisky, bottled by independent bottler Whisky Sponge as Edition No.23. Whisky Sponge is part of Decadent Drinks, founded by Angus MacRaild. The whisky was matured in a refill sherry hogshead and bottled in 2021. Caperdonich is a silent Speyside distillery, which was dismantled in 2011.

Nose
Rather honeyed, with jammy apricot and yellow plums. Orange peels and gooseberries, malty sweetness, a slight nutty edge, flinty and vaguely metallic notes, and candied ginger.
Palate
A balance of juicy fruits (oranges, lime, apricot, bergamot) with oak spice (white pepper and ginger). Sultanas and dried fruits from the sherry cask, waxy/oily hints, light herbs (aniseed), tobacco leaves, brown sugar, and light grassy flavours.
Finish
Medium, with orange peels and other fruity notes, oak spice, and a bit of herbal/minty syrup.
