Description

Cardhu is a Speyside single malt distillery founded in 1824, known for its light, smooth, and delicate style. It was acquired by John Walker & Sons in 1893 and has since been a key component in Johnnie Walker blends. This 12 Year Old expression is a standard bottling, often matured in ex-bourbon casks, and is recognized for its approachable, honeyed, and fruity character.

Nose
Sweet, vibrant, with fresh fruit notes of tangerine, lemon, pear, and apple, balanced by honey, toffee, barley sugar, vanilla, and gentle sweet oak, with hints of spiced clove and caramel.
Palate
Sweet and spicy, featuring pears, sweet apples, and cream from fresh-toasted oak, developing into tangerine sharpness, fruit syrup, soft oak intensity, caramel, pepper, and oak spices, with underlying honey, vanilla, and gentle maltiness.
Finish
Relatively long and creamy, spicy-sweet, with drying cocoa, dark chocolate, toasty oak, and lingering citrus, evolving into a short, warm, oaky, and sometimes smoky finish with notes of fruit, grain, creamy chocolate, peat, and ash.
