Description

Carsebridge distillery was founded as a malt distillery in 1799 and converted into a grain distillery in the 1840s. Over the following few decades, it saw some major changes with refitting, modernising and expanding. By 1980 it was the largest grain distillery in Scotland. It closed its doors in 1983 and was demolished in 1992 but the Grade B-listed Carsebridge House still stands today. 43.2% ABV

Nose
Light and delicate with notes of oaky vanilla, caramel, red fruit, rose water, raspberry, gentle cinnamon spice, peach, apple, orange oil, and a dash of mint leaf. It also has a fresh, light cereal quality with nougat, coconut, sandalwood, and sweeter butterscotch, sometimes described as slightly musty.
Palate
Rich and voluptuous in texture, with layers of vanilla, honey, and malt sweetness. It's gently candylike with hints of pineapple, breakfast cereal, strawberries and cream, banoffee pie, blackcurrant, coconut, linseed oil, rocket leaf, and a slight black pepper overtone.
Finish
Long and smooth, defined by soft oakiness, lingering cereal notes, almond, a general oiliness, more banoffee pie, and a slightly spicy element with pencil shavings and spice.
