Description

An old Scottish blending company that was founded in 1863. It became part of the Distillers Company Limited in 1937 and is best-known for bottling the Abbot's Choice and Chequers blends. It also marketed the Linkwood single malt brand after being granted the license to the distillery.

Honey and a hint of smoke give the nose some lift, while the palate stays light, sweet and grainy, with oak and vanilla. I like the restraint in that contrast: the notes suggest a blend with some depth without leaning on a heavy, forceful character. The rich, smooth finish sounds like a calm way to bring those different sides together.
