Description

Blended by Chivas Brothers, Royal Salute was launched on the 2nd of June 1953 in tribute to Queen Elizabeth II. Named after the traditional 21 gun salute, this rich, classy blend is aged for a minimum of 21 years and is bottled in a range of Wade porcelain decanters. This 21 Year Old Chivas Royal Salute was bottled in 2012 to celebrate the 60th year of Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II's Diamond Jubilee.

Rich, fruity, barley, sugar and oak. Sweet pears and citrus fruits balanced with soft autumn flowers, vanilla, dry oak, subtle sherry, and a wisp of smoke. Orange zest, soft spices, gingerbread, generous cereals, pineapple, umeboshi plum, citrus rind.
Palate
Sweet, fruity, peaches and pears with sherry notes and spices. Warm orange marmalade and fresh pears, explosion of spices and hazelnut. Smooth, burnt caramel, tar, wood influence, drier profile, hints of smokiness. Candied, toffee, vanilla fudge, sultana, bittersweetness, oatmeal raisin cookies, cooked green fruit, bitter orange oil, apricot jam, nutty hazelnut praline.
Finish
Long, luxurious finish. Long, dry and slightly spicy. Soft metallic flavors, sweet and oily feeling. Decent length, soft, sweet, laden with dried fruits, hints of crumbly brown sugar and cinnamon, delicate peat. Light chocolate note.
