Description

The Compass Box 3 Year Old Deluxe is a blended malt Scotch whisky, a 'cheeky' limited edition release that highlights the minimum age statement rule in Scotch whisky. While named for its 3-year-old component (0.4% Clynelish from a first-fill bourbon barrel), the blend predominantly consists of much older whiskies: 90% 24-year-old Clynelish from refill hogsheads and 9.6% 20-year-old Talisker from first-fill sherry butts. It is bottled at 49.2% ABV, non-chill filtered, and with natural color, offering a complex profile with balanced smoke.

Fragrant, floral, and strongly waxy with green fruit (banana, coconut water, pineapple, peach, green apple), woody nutmeg, sandalwood, sweet basil, mint, floral white tea, sea spray, and a hint of black pepper.
Palate
Medium-thick texture with massive candlewax and sweet lemon, green apples, pineapple, pear, grilled banana, spicy notes of black pepper, old oak, coastal peat, seaweed, smoked kippers, and intensifying brine.
Finish
Medium-long, cleaning up with diminishing smoke, paraffin wax, soft vanilla, black pepper, charred driftwood, basil, mint, sea buckthorn, and honeydew.
