Description

Compass Box Canvas is an inventive and limited edition blended malt Scotch whisky, released in June 2021. It is crafted from single malts sourced from Tomatin, Glenburgie, Glen Elgin, and the now-closed Imperial distilleries. The whisky primarily focuses on the sweetness of whiskies aged in American oak barrels, with a significant portion of Tomatin malt finished for three years in experimental Vino Naranja (Spanish orange wine) casks. These unusual casks, seasoned with fortified wine infused with orange peel from the Condado de Huelva region, impart chocolatey richness and sticky marmalade fragrance to the blend. Bottled at 46% ABV, it is non-chill filtered and presented with natural color. A total of 5,880 bottles were released.

Gloriously waxy and citrusy, with notes of vanilla custard, sweet banana, floral hints, beeswax, butter cookies, orange zest, and sometimes a tart, lactic, sake-ish note.
Palate
Creamy mouthfeel with forest honey, vanilla shortbread, peaches, lemon, orange zest, and sometimes hints of Triple Sec, white pepper, nutmeg, and marmalade.
Finish
Medium to long, with lingering oak spices, vanilla sweetness, orange peel, nutmeg, cardamom, and chocolate.
