Compass Box Enlightenment is a limited edition blended malt Scotch whisky released in 2016 as part of Compass Box's 'Scotch Whisky Transparency Campaign'. It is composed of malts from Clynelish, Glentauchers, Balblair, and Mortlach distilleries, bottled at 46% ABV, non-chill filtered, and with natural color. The release of 5,922 bottles was inspired by the Age of Enlightenment, advocating for greater transparency in whisky labeling.

Nose
Fresh green apple skin and ripe pear with creamy fruitcake, pear drops, dried strawberry and mild black pepper. Light vanilla custard, citrus, honeysuckle, and a lightly mineral/waxy touch.
Palate
Medium-bodied and fruity with vanilla oak, ripe apple, pear drops, elegant Christmassy spice, lemon drops, tinned pineapple, gooseberries, green apple peel, gentle waxiness, and a light touch of salt. Sweet ginger, white pepper, herbs, walnut, cucumber, and cocoa powder.
Finish
Stewed apple and pear drops with lingering parma violet and very mild spicy oak. Medium long with similar citrus notes, a light caramelized edge, peppery prickle, grape must, coconut, passionfruit, wax, black pepper, cardamom, clove, and a mineral note.
