The 2018, 6th edition of Compass Box Flaming Heart is a blended malt Scotch whisky, combining peaty smokiness with the richness of French oak aging. It features malts from Caol Ila, Deanston, and Clynelish, with a subtle sherry cask influence reintroduced in this edition. It is bottled at 48.9% ABV, natural color, and non-chill filtered.

Nose
Coastal air and fiery peat, tempered by hints of honey on toast and vanilla pod. Waxy, somewhat farmy and lightly smoked, with hints of rubber, white grapes, banana pudding, raspberries, and tangy orange and red apple skins.
Palate
Continued smoke alongside drying Christmas spices and a very slight touch of raisin cookies. Wood smoke and salinity, with vanilla custard, leather, apple, blackberries, charcoal, citrus, nectarine, pear, jasmine tea, malt, honey, and French-oak vanilla-maple-spice.
Finish
Oatcakes, salted butter, orange and clove. Lingering smoke, ash and a tad drying, with smoked meat and cheese, herbal peat, earthy mineral notes, waxy honeycomb, cashew, and bubblegum.
