Description

The third release of Compass Box's 'The Double Single' blended Scotch whisky, bottled in 2017. This limited edition of 5,838 bottles is a blend of just two whiskies: a single malt from Glen Elgin (72%) matured in re-charred ex-bourbon hogsheads, and a single grain from Girvan (28%) matured in re-charred bourbon barrels. It is bottled at 46% ABV, is non-chill filtered, and has natural color.

Nose
Sweet and fruity with notes of vanilla, crisp red apples, ripe pears, green apples, banana, orange juice, subtle mint, and a gentle touch of oak, sometimes with hints of toffee, cinnamon, and nuts.
Palate
Viscous and creamy mouthfeel with luscious fruit, mainly apple peel, green apples, kiwi, banana, honeyed biscuits, cereal, and spicy pepper. Notes of vanilla, light caramel toffee, mint, wood spice, clove, nutmeg, and eucalyptus are also present.
Finish
Medium to long, with fruits fading to reveal more spices, vanilla, chocolate fudge, subtle oakiness, and sometimes a touch of lemon zest or orangettes.
