Description

New batches of THE PEAT MONSTER boast a spectrum of powerful coastal flavours, combining the smokiness of a driftwood fire with more medicinal peat notes. Orchard fruits and rich cask-derived creaminess balance the multi-layered smoke.

Nose
Peaty, smoky (ashy, bonfire, charcoal, burning pine), with maritime/coastal notes (sea spray, salinity, seaweed), medicinal hints (iodine), and underlying sweetness (honeyed pears, apples, melon, candied citrus, lemon, ruby grapefruit peel), baking spice, and fresh grains.
Palate
Continues with peat and smoke, often described as elegant or balanced. Fruity sweetness (green apple, pear, citrus, papaya), vanilla, honey, buttered biscuits, oak, and a peppery spiciness (white pepper, bell pepper, cayenne pepper). Oily/silky mouthfeel.
Finish
Long and lingering, with peat and smoke remaining prominent. Sweetness, floral notes (roses, violets, heather), spice (cinnamon, ginger cookies, black pepper), oak, and maritime character.
