Description

A malt distillery in Speyside that was the fourth of the famed "Seven Stills" of Dufftown. Primarily tasked with providing fillings for blended Scotch brands, it has rarely been seen in single malt form after being closed down by the Distillers Company in 1985. This rare 36-year-old single malt was distilled in 1984, just a few months before the Speyside distillery closed its doors. It forms part of the second release of the Prima & Ultima range from Diageo, launched in 2021.

Nose
Delicate and impressive depth, rich in sweet aromas on a woody base, with top notes of pale fruits such as lychees, white grapes or melon, gentle acidity, golden syrup, key lime pie, green melon, two-tone sherbet lollipops, tart apple, fruity esters, ripe pear, baked apple, honeycomb, and soft tropical fruit.
Palate
Very pleasant, rich and smooth with a lovely texture. Thick and creamy-smooth, balancing sweet hints of mandarin orange with a peppery, oaky dryness. Sweet golden fruits with a developing waxiness, ground pepper, lime zest, spiced caramel, orchard fruit, vanilla custard, gentle spice, and a subtle waxy depth.
Finish
Elegant and long-lasting aftertaste, oozing rich, sweet warmth with light spice, traces of coconut, and gradually drying with lingering fruit sweetness, light spice, and understated oak.
