Description
The first single malt whisky to be produced in Edinburgh for over a century. This is an inaugural release for the closed Chain Pier distillery in Granton. Crabbie owners Halewood produced small amounts of single malt spirit at this pilot distillery between 2018 and 2019 while constructing the Bonnington distillery. Only 39 casks were ever produced at this distillery. The origins of John Crabbie & Co can be traced back to 1801, when Miller Crabbie set himself up as a merchant in Edinburgh. Under the control of his son, John, the company acquired a former porter brewery in Leith, which became the base for the family's expanding whisky blending business. They owned Haddington distillery in East Lothian, which produced grain whisky from 1852 until the mid-1860.
