Description

This thirty-three-year-old single malt from Craigellachie, a Speyside distillery known for its robust character, was created using traditional 'worm tub' condensers. This method enhances sulphur retention, contributing to its distinctive fruity and waxy profile. Initially bottled in February 2017 as a duty-free exclusive, this limited release of 1,700 bottles is non-chill filtered and free from caramel colouring, matured in a blend of ex-bourbon and ex-sherry casks.

Nose
Ripe orchard fruits like apples, pears, and dried apricots, with honeyed sweetness, delicate floral notes, and layers of vanilla, toffee, and dark chocolate from oak. A characteristic slight sulfuric note, with hints of banana and pineapple, adds a unique savory edge.
Palate
Full-bodied and complex with a smooth texture. Flavors of ripe peaches, juicy apples, and soft citrus intertwine with rich maltiness, honeycomb, toffee, and caramelized sugar. Pronounced dried fruits like figs and raisins from the oak, with a slight herbal note and the signature Craigellachie sulphury edge.
Finish
Long and sophisticated, with lingering oak and fruit notes. A final wave of honey and malt sweetness gives way to a slight peppery spice and warmth. The unique sulfuric note continues, leaving a refined impression of dried fruit, spices, and gentle oak.
