Description

This is a very limited bottling of Dallas Dhu, an inactive Speyside single malt Scotch whisky distillery, by the independent bottler Murray McDavid for their Mission series. Distilled in 1974 and matured for 29 years in oak casks, it was bottled in 2003. The bottle is signed by Jim McEwan, who was Master Distiller for Bruichladdich when Murray McDavid owned it. This release is part of 'Selection Number Three' and has an outturn of 498 bottles. The Dallas Dhu distillery ceased production in 1983 and now operates as a museum.

Nose
Gentle and floral with notes of apple, heather, pear, raspberry, chocolate, and sweet oak. Also toasted nuts, propolis, waxes, soot, rusty tools, herbal teas, grass smoke, and old clothes.
Palate
Soft start with a burst of sweetness, gentle waves of flowers, nutty oak, malt, dried grasses, and orchard fruits. Also old nuts, cardboard, Bovril, salty honey, bitter oranges, chlorophyll, black tea, and umami.
Finish
Complex and nutty, medium length, salty, meaty, with coffee and sappy honeydew. The aftertaste is almost all on chicken bouillon with sweeter sauce.
