Description

A rare 30-year-old single malt from the Highland distillery Dalmore, which has received a special sherry cask finish. The whisky was distilled on 22 March 1973 and initially matured in American oak casks. It was then finished in casks that previously held Matusalem sherry from Gonzalez Byass, and bottled in 2003 at 42%. The result is an exceptional single malt with notes of exotic fruit and spices.

Nose
Opening bouquet of confectioner's sugar, lemon drops and seaweed; aeration unleashes atypical scents of gum, banana extract, bread yeast, pineapple and roasted grain.
Palate
Palate entry is tart, doughy and a tad prickly; by midpalate a citrusy/yeasty flavor is elegantly underpinned by tastes of oak resin, malt and vanilla.
Finish
Finishes oily, deep and sensuous. An underappreciated exemplary Northern Highlands malt.
