Description

The Uberach Cask Jaune is a single malt French whisky from Distillerie Bertrand, part of their Single Malt Collection. It is inspired by the Jura terroir, with maturation in unique second-fill casks that previously held Vin Jaune (yellow wine) from Jura, specifically from Arbois, Pupillin, Rotalier, and Mathenay. This whisky aims to highlight the subtleties and disparities of the French soil and offers a rich and generous character. [3, 6, 7]

Nose
Dominated by notes of wax, pleasant, light and lively, with a slightly smoky side due to mutage. It reveals the adventurous character of Jura, with notes of nuts like walnut, sweet chestnut honey, dried fruits, and subtle hints of chocolate powder. Further aromas of grape pomace give a vinous and intense character, with floral notes of chamomile and a distinct minerality. [2, 3, 6]
Palate
A lively and rich attack, coating the palate with red fruits and cocoa beans. It then becomes warm with notes of beeswax and white flowers. It evokes violet, fruit, flowers, and the texture of licorice, revealing a distinct nutty and spicy character from the Vin Jaune. [2, 3, 6]
Finish
Long, concluding on notes of wild berries and blackberries. Sweet spices like Bourbon vanilla are honored, with chocolate bitterness quickly complemented by notes of roasting and walnut shell. The nutty, spicy character of Vin Jaune is distinctly present. [3, 6]
