Description

One of the benchmark bourbons, Eagle Rare hails from the Buffalo Trace distillery. This rare bourbon ages in oak barrels for nearly two decades and is part of the annual release from Buffalo Trace's Antique Collection, released in small quantities each year. The Fall 2010 release was distilled in Spring 1993 using Kentucky corn, Minnesota Rye and North Dakota Distillers Malt. It was aged for 17 years and bottled at 45% ABV.

Nose
Dark candied fruit, cigar boxes, cinnamon, complex aromas of toffee, hints of orange peel, herbs, honey, leather and oak, nutty, dried fruit, almonds.
Palate
Delicate and dry, hints of leather, vanilla and tobacco, bold, dry, oaky flavors with notes of candied almonds and very rich cocoa, corn sweetness, bitter note, cinnamon/cassia, damask rose, grippy wood, citrus, floral, piney/menthol coolness, darker caramel.
Finish
Lingering, with a hint of toffee, dry and lingering, long, mild finish with very little burn, hint of black pepper spice and touch of mint, firm and oaky.
