Nose: Rich caramel, honey, berry and pungent sherry. Toffee, light cocoa, some black pepper. Rich and syrupy, it's unmistakably dessert forward. Also some lemon notes as well as marzipan.
Palate: Big and instant assault on the tongue. Lots of wonderful dark, thick sherry flavors. Bit of licorice and some toasty notes as well. Sweet berry, honey, toffee. Blackberry, plum, fig and rich cocoa and espresso.
Finish: Even bigger than the palate - it keeps growing. The initial dry spiciness gives way to a wonderfully waxy coating. Nice and long. Sweet, with peppery undertones. Toffee, honey, plum, some cocoa and a big, rich blackberry character. Dried plums and dates with some cloves.

The sherry character comes through alongside dark fruit, toffee and cocoa, with pepper and dry spice adding contrast. The finish is described as long and waxy. This has the cask detail I like, though its dessert-forward character may not suit every mood.
