Description

This is an 18-year-old Edradour single malt, distilled in 2003 and bottled in 2021 under the independent Whisky Sponge banner, as Edition No. 31. Matured in a refill hogshead, which was previously used to mature an old Signatory bottling, this whisky is described as funky, fruity, sharp, malty, waxy, and mineral. Decadent Drinks, a well-known independent bottler, collaborated with Whisky Sponge for this release.

Nose
Pure, old school, highland style distillate driven malt whisky. Barley eau de vie with lemon water, hay, mineral oils, soot, boot polish, toolboxes and hessian. Superbly charismatic whisky.
Palate
Immediately rich and mouth-filling with big notes of malt extract, barley sugars, olive oil, oatcakes and various beers and cereals. Punchy and complex, straddling oiliness and greasiness with notes of brass polish, industrial lubricant, damp hay loft, spirit sulphur, peach cobbler, burnt toffee, waffle mix, limestone cliffs, putties and clays.
Finish
Very long and on a combination of sweet and sour fruits, barley fields and metallurgy.
