Description

Rooted in tradition, St. George's Distillery are proud to make whisky the old-fashioned way, using slow processes, traditional equipment and honest, local ingredients. James Nelstrop's original goal for the distillery was to create England's finest single-malt whisky. This has been the sole ambition for nearly 16 years and is what continues to drive them forward today. This bottling is the third edition of 'The English' 11-year-old and is a batch of 4300 bottles matured in first fill and refill American oak casks and bottled at 46% without colouring or chill filtration. The English 11-year-old is a flagship for the complexities of mature English malt whisky, and it's a delightfully characterful dram.

Nose
A complex nose with gentle notes of vanilla and citrus. A subtle herbal note; think mint and sage. It is very fruity with hints of baked apple, peach, mango, dried apricots, and cherries. A background note on nuts; think almonds. The oak from the casks comes across as clean pencil shavings. Lovely!
Palate
Sweet and spicy on the palate; dry and woody with lovely oak overtones. The fruits come across, with the cherries, apples, and tropical fruits dominating.
Finish
A nicely balanced peppery and spicy tingle on the tongue, with a rich, oily, and slightly dry finish.
