Description
Created in 1896 by Matthew Gloag, it was initially called the Grouse Blend but the 'Famous' prefix was added in 1905 after the success of the brand. Owned by the Edrington Group, it is stablemates with Highland Park and Macallan and was awarded the Royal Warrant in 1984. The blenders still work by the same four fundamentals as they always have: foundation (sticking to the Gloag family traditions). The Famous Grouse is a popular blended Scotch whisky known for its smooth, well-balanced flavor, combining a selection of fine malt and grain whiskies. It has been Scotland's best-selling whisky for over 40 years.
