Description

The Famous Grouse Islay Cask Finish is a blended Scotch whisky, a marriage of fine rare Scotch whiskies finished in Islay whisky casks. The Famous Grouse brand was created in 1896 by Mathew Gloag, initially called the Grouse Blend, and the 'Famous' prefix was added in 1905. It is owned by the Edrington Group and was awarded the Royal Warrant in 1984. This expression offers a slightly peatier version of the standard Famous Grouse, with a hint of smoky and dark character.

Nose
Immediate smoke/burnt matches, heather, soft fruits/honey. Dry yet soft. Slightly boozy, with aromas of melon, and a whisper of smoke.
Palate
Softly fruited: sultana, hazelnut with puffs of scented heathery smoke. A whole lot of honey on the side palate to start, and upon exhale more herbaceous flavors emerge with a bit of peat lingering in the background.
Finish
Dry long and slightly austere. Smoky. The long finish keeps to the core flavors of the whisky.
