Description

One of the oldest licensed distilleries in Scotland, Fettercairn was opened in 1825 and after having many owners - including Sir John Gladstone, father of 4-time British Prime Minister William Gladstone - is currently at the heart of the Whyte & Mackay range. The malt produced is predominantly used in the blends produced by Whyte & Mackay but they also produce their own range of aged single malts. The Fettercairn Fasque is an unpeated expression named after a country estate near the distillery, launched during a rebranding of the core range in 2010.

Nose
Baking spices, dried fruits, poached pears and a good whiff of oak. Treacle toffee, spices and pear. Mocha [chocolate and coffee] with sweet esters like peach or over-ripe banana.
Palate
Toffee pennies, oak spice and vanilla. Subtle mocha notes along the way. Dark chocolate, coffee, cinnamon and nutmeg. Molten chocolate [like 60% cocoa], sweet apples and pears with a little honey and toffee.
Finish
Medium, with raisins and sultanas reappearing. Rich vanilla and citrus fruits. Gently warming and drying followed by a little mouth watering toffee and fudge flavours.
