Founded in 1992 by Brian Cook, the Vintage Malt Whisky Company set out with the aim to produce a range of malt whiskies from the country's finest distilleries and to present them to independent importers worldwide. The company is perhaps best known for its Cooper's Choice range of single cask bottlings paying homage to the craftsmen who made the perfect casks by exploring cask finishes. Finlaggan Old Reserve is an Islay Single Malt Scotch Whisky bottled by The Vintage Malt Whisky Company, an independent bottler. The exact distillery of origin remains a closely guarded secret, though it is widely speculated to be from one of Islay's renowned distilleries. This no-age-statement expression is known for its peated style and is matured in a blend of first-fill and refill ex-bourbon casks with a small proportion of ex-sherry casks.
