The appeal here is the shift from bright citrus to softer, sweeter notes: white grapefruit and sherbet meet chewy tapioca, while the nose brings lemon drizzle cake alongside kumquat and lychee. That contrast gives the character more shape than a straightforward citrus-led malt. The first impression on the palate is slightly grassy, which keeps the sweetness from taking over. The finish is described as elegant and refined, a fitting close to this measured mix.
fernrambler19 JunThis is a 26-year-old Speyside single malt. Kumquat and lychee give the nose a bright, fruity character, while white grapefruit and sherbet meet chewy tapioca on the palate. The contrast sounds appealing, with an elegant, refined finish.
The subtle wood hints sit comfortably beside the bright citrus.
slowtrain owl16 FebThe bright kumquat and white grapefruit sit against chewy tapioca and toasty Chardonnay, which gives this Glen Elgin an appealing contrast. The elegant, refined finish keeps the overall character measured rather than busy.
