Description

The Scotch Malt Whisky Society was founded in Edinburgh in 1983 by Phillip 'Pip' Hills who, while travelling around Scotland in the 1970s, fell in love with whiskies drawn straight from the cask. After he expanded his syndicate the Society was purchased by Glenmorangie PLC in 2004. In 2015, the Society was sold back to private investors. Nose
A seriously scrumptious nose of pineapple juice, lemon curd, vanilla custard and coconut flakes. A little water brought out notes of candied almonds and marzipan.
Palate
The palate was equally scrumptious with notes of tropical fruit salad, mango chutney, ginger biscuits and a hint of chilli. With water, we found more sweetness in the form of honey and caramel, along with a touch of oak spice.
Finish
The finish was long and satisfying with notes of dried apricots, toasted almonds and a hint of white pepper.
