The Chateau Lagrange wine-cask detail gives this 19-year-old Highland malt a clear point of distinction, and the notes offer plenty to react to. Red apples and strawberries lead into raspberries and dried cherries, with red berries returning on the finish. Lemongrass brings a sharper counterpoint, then ginger biscuits and Christmas spices round things out. I like that fruit-and-spice contrast; the cask identity is specific without needing an invented flavour story.
