Description

Originally based in Aberdeen before being bought by the Campbeltown based Mitchell family in 1969, Wm Cadenhead's is the oldest independent bottler in Scotland. Now their flagship Campbeltown premises - located next to the Springbank distillery - also features their own shop offering a variety of bottled spirits from different distilleries. With their own warehouse stocked full of exciting whiskie ... This exceptional Glen Garioch single malt was distilled in 2013 and aged for 12 years. Matured in a rum cask and bottled at a robust 55.3% ABV, this expression remains free from artificial colouring and chill filtration to preserve its authentic character. It is a limited release of only 246 bottles.

Nose
The nose is initially a little closed off, with dried wood, thyme, pencil shavings, and cheap aftershave. With patience, pineapple, strawberry syrup, and vanilla essence come through. Dilution brings out mango yoghurt and rum and raisin sweets.
Palate
Much like the nose the palate doesn't really taste like Glen Garioch to us. We're finding it very funky, with notes of honey, lavender, Malibu Coconut Rum, cloves, cinnamon, and vanilla ice cream. Water brings out cinnamon spice, jasmine, plantain, and foam bananas on the mid palate.
Finish
The finish is medium in length, with pepper spice taking over from the aforementioned sweeter notes. The mouthfeel is good enough. The mouthfeel remains the same, and the finish is still medium in length with the sweetness still fading a little too soon.
