Description
Glen Garioch distillery was founded in 1797 by John Manson, making it amongst the oldest distilleries in Scotland. It is located in the Eastern Highlands of Aberdeenshire. The distillery is known for its heavy, thick, cereal and spicy notes, which are attributed to its short fermentation period. It produces a non-peated spirit and is matured in a combination of ex-bourbon and ex-sherry casks. The whisky is non-chill filtered. In 1908 the distillery was bought over by Sanderson & Son, before merging with Booth's Distilleries and then DCL by 1937. Sadly, by this point production was slowing down. The '1797' in the name refers to the distillery's founding year. [description_candidates, 3, 7, 9, 10, 12, 14, 15, 16, 17, 20, 21, 22]
