Nose
Sweet vanilla aromas with rich baked fruits, crème brûlée and almond. Old-timey smell of a beekeeper's dusty wood workshop, wax, barrel-aged honey, summer flowers, caramelised ginger, oranges, baked sweet apples with cinnamon and cloves.
Palate
Light on arrival, juicy, mouth-coating and oily. Beeswax, oak cupboard, honey, pickled ginger, dried flowers and a pinch of spices. Balanced for a 45-year-old whisky, with oak present but not overbearing.
Finish
Medium-long, slightly spicy with ginger and pepper, rounded, with wax and baked apple served on an oak platter.
