Description

This Glen Grant was distilled in February 1948 and matured in first-fill sherry butt #440 for an incredible 72 years. It was bottled by Gordon & MacPhail in February 2020 and originally presented in an elegant Dartington Crystal decanter within an American black walnut presentation case. Perhaps one of Scotland's most important whisky companies, Gordon & MacPhail is a historic blender, independent bottler, and distiller. This release is part of their Private Collection series and was limited to 290 bottles worldwide.

Notes of Christmas cake moistened with Oloroso sherry, prune juice, baked apple skin, oak, coconut, treacle toffee, coffee grounds, chocolate, liquorice, vanilla fudge, strawberry, raspberry, apricot jam, waxy polish, cinnamon, candied orange peel, and gentle smoky traces.
Palate
Mouth-filling and lightly waxy, sweet entry with a tannic dry finish, hints of espresso, dark chocolate, spices, fruit jam, red wine, honey drizzled oranges, soft caramel, milk chocolate, and oaky elements.
Finish
Lingering with espresso coffee, dark chocolate, orange marmalade, oak, caramel, mocha, tobacco, menthol, beeswax, and a hint of cacao.
