Description

The Scotch Malt Whisky Society was founded in Edinburgh in 1983 by Phillip 'Pip' Hills who, while travelling around Scotland in the 1970s, fell in love with whiskies drawn straight from the cask. After convincing some friends to buy a cask of Glenfarclas he expanded his syndicate and in 2004 the Society was purchased by Glenmorangie PLC. It has a unique code system where the first number refers to the distillery and the second refers to the cask from which the bottle comes. SMWS also offers the largest range of distilleries of any independent bottler. Nose
Black chocolate, blackberry, cherry pie overflowed from the cup in the first second, reminiscent of the society's frequent re-casking in months, which makes people admire the seasoning efficiency of the first-fill Oloroso cask even more. Then there is the old grape sauce of Cognac style, followed by clear apple and honey aroma, with rich layers.
Palate
Still a clear two-stage flavor. From the rich coffee, cocoa, cherry pie, leather, walnut, burnt aroma of the first-fill sherry flavor, it turns to the Speyside characteristics of raisin cake, cream, apple and citrus.
Finish
Long. Cherry, leather, burnt aroma.
