Description

One of the last remaining distilleries from Campbeltown's glory days as 'whisky capital of the world', Glen Scotia's versatility made it extremely useful to blenders. This exceptional aged statement single malt is lightly peated and matured in first fill bourbon and re-fill American Oak casks, with a very short finish in Oloroso Sherry Casks, delivering a true taste of Campbeltown.

Nose
Rich, confident nose with dark sugars, spice and fruits. Citrus peel, apricot jam and ginger biscuits are followed by oak and hints of sea breeze. Wafts of sea breeze and baking spices develop after a minute. Tart lemony notes with apples and a hint of physalis, mellowed by light vanilla.
Palate
A deep complex, chewy palate with vanilla, orchard fruits, ginger and cinnamon balanced with a gentle dryness. Plump fruits with hints of raisins and orchard fruits, caramelised sugar and oak. Sweet malt mixed with a firm grassy note, herbal bitterness and lemon peels. Gingery warmth alongside toffee sweetness.
Finish
Long and oily with an unexpected and rewarding layer of liquorice. Quite long with continuing spice. Warm spicy, honey smoothness, oak and a dry finish. Medium length, with oak spice, honey sweetness and salty liquorice.
