Description

The Glen Scotia Icons of Campbeltown 12 Year Old - The Wulver is the third release in the Icons of Campbeltown Series, named after the mythical Scottish creature, the Wulver. This 12-year-old unpeated single malt was initially matured in ex-bourbon barrels and then finished for nine months in ex-Tawny Port casks. It is bottled at cask strength, non-chill filtered, and with natural color, celebrating the community spirit of Campbeltown.

Nose
Invitingly fruity with red fruits, wild berries, dark chocolate, a hint of oak, and a fine maritime breeze. Notes of candied nuts, crisp red apple, caramel sweetness, roasted nuts, stone fruits, and dried figs are also present, with a subdued maritime funkiness.
Palate
Smooth yet intense, with ripe berries, sweet hints of dried fruits, and velvety chocolate. The Tawny Port cask maturation provides depth and elegant sweetness. Flavors of dried fruit richness, liquorice root, cinnamon, dates, cranberries, confit cherries, plum, manuka honey, thick syrup, and a coastal Christmas time feel.
Finish
Long and warming with lasting fruitiness, fine tannins, chocolate notes, and salty sea air. Notes of berries, cocoa, and a subtle salty character linger, gradually turning a little drier toward the end.
