Description

A bottle of The Glendronach 1968 Single Highland Malt Scotch Whisky. This 25 year old expression was matured in sherry casks and bottled in 1993 for the US market. While some of the original stock was sold in the US, the remainder (including this bottle) was 'lost' for ten years in Glendronach's warehouses.

Nose
Beautiful sherried notes of marzipan, vanilla, blackberries, red apple skin, old leather, dry baking spice, brown sugar, nutmeg, hazelnuts, and a touch of shaving cream. Rich, dark, redolent of sherry wood with classic figs and dates, hints of wax, mint, ripe apricots, leather, parsley, cardamom, and a touch of smoke. Cherries and raspberries emerge over time.
Palate
Earthy with flapjacks, dried figs, fat raisins, dates, dry spices, orchard fruits, chocolate liquorice bullets, more hazelnuts, drying tannins, and leather. Rich with herbs, raisins, chocolate, mint, prunes, liquorice, and cinnamon.
Finish
Ridiculously long, with chocolate, oak, hints of oranges, earthy/bitter notes, and a return of orange and apricot.
