Description

A malt distillery located in Forgue by Huntly in the eastern Highland region. As of 2016 it is American-owned by the Brown-Foreman Corporation through its Benriach Distillery Company subsidiary. Famed for its preference for sherry cask-ageing, it has long been an established single malt brand.

Nose
Luscious stewed prunes and sweet plum syrup with depths of gentle clove, cinnamon, and rich orange marmalade. Also notes of leather, polished oak, dark soy sauce, caramel, and citrus.
Palate
Full-bodied traditional sherried character with tremendous waves of sun-dried raisins, dates, and spiced plums. Richly roasted coffee beans with touches of almond and walnut. Fruity arrival with plum and citrus, leather, and dried tangerine peel.
Finish
Long and robust with cocoa, oak, toffee, and a slight hint of cinnamon spice. Tobacco, raisins, cinnamon, and maple syrup.
