Description

A malt distillery located in Forgue by Huntly in the eastern Highland region. As of 2016 it is American-owned by the Brown-Foreman Corporation through its Benriach Distillery Company subsidiary. Famed for its preference for sherry cask-ageing, it has long been an established single malt brand.

Nose
Intense dark and dried fruits, red berries, honey, tobacco, caramel, hint of chocolate, dry dusty oak. Very rich, abundant orchard and dried fruits, nuts, vibrant spiciness. Toffee apples, stewed red fruits, milk chocolate, caffe latte, cinnamon-led baking spices, mild wood polish, Amburana spirals, young brandy.
Palate
Very intense dark fruits, dry fruits (raisins), bread dough, caramel, chocolate, fruit sourness, oak, tobacco wrapped in leather. Full-bodied and intensely rich. Spices and dried fruits, dense fruits (plums, raisins, dates, persimmons), milk chocolate, underlying malt, candied orange peel, soft nuttiness (roast almond, oily peanut).
Finish
Wonderful aromatic, strong intense fruity, very long and warming. Red berries, dried and dark fruits, chocolate, caramel, tobacco. Fruity flavors stay incredibly long. Medium to long, dried fruits, caramel, nuts, hints of mint.
