The Glendronach Platinum 16 Year Old is a limited edition Highland Single Malt Scotch Whisky, matured exclusively in Oloroso sherry casks and bottled at 48% ABV. This expression was produced between 2012 and 2014, initially for travel retail and selected export markets, notably South Africa and Germany. the freshly cut herbs on the palate and rooibos tea in the finish give this a detail i like, without taking it away from its darker, fruit-and-coffee character. there’s a clear contrast between sweet dates and dried fruit and the dry, oaky finish. It sounds rich and warming, though the dryness and spice seem to keep it from being an especially soft or gentle style.
