Description
In 1826 the exuberant and extroverted James Allardice, along with a consortium of local farmers, founded the distillery and began producing his "Guid GlenDronach" single malt. Unfortunately Allardice's marketing strategy of offering free drams to Edinburgh's "ladies of night", coupled with a fire at the distillery in 1837, led to him declaring bankruptcy. Thankfully however, the story doesn't end. This GlenDronach 1993 20 Year Old Single Cask #5 is a prime example of craftsmanship from this renowned Highlands distillery, distilled on 15 January 1993 and bottled in October 2013 after a 20-year maturation. It was matured in a Pedro Ximénez Sherry Puncheon, resulting in unparalleled depth and enormous complexity.
