Description

A malt distillery located in Forgue by Huntly in the eastern Highland region. As of 2016 it is American-owned by the Brown-Foreman Corporation through its Benriach Distillery Company subsidiary. Famed for its preference for sherry cask-ageing, it has long been an established single malt brand. This unique expression was initially matured in European oak casks then finished in a very small batch of Tawny Port casks before being bottled at 46% Alc./Vol. Non chill filtered.

Nose
Elegant notes of sweet plum syrup drenched over wild berries compete with a contrasting hint of orange peel and walnut. A gentle dusting of cocoa powder and a warming oak spice.
Palate
Vivid, tart cranberries and crisp barley sugar develop into a rich, dark fruit and toasted apple crumble. Cedar wood and sweet spice combine with a hint of cigar box.
Finish
A beautifully balanced marriage of contrasting rich fruit characters and warming oak spice.
