Description

Considered among the finest of the Speyside malt distilleries and one of the few of its age to still be family-owned. J&G Grant became its sole shareholders in 1898 and continue to run it in a traditional manner, notably using direct-fired stills to create a rich, weighty spirit. This 25 year old single malt from Glenfarclas spent its days in 100% Oloroso sherry casks, resulting in a complex and delicately sherried whisky. It is a prestigious single malt Scotch whisky that exemplifies the depth, complexity, and elegance of the Glenfarclas distillery's craftsmanship, aged for a quarter of a century. Nose
Sweet, nutty, and full of dark fruits, with notes of tart cake, sweet cream, fruit pastry, woody notes, tobacco, leather, and a musty old warehouse. Hints of menthol, marmalade, honey, freshly ground coffee, sherry, and oaky tannins are also present, alongside apples, pears, and vanilla. Palate
The sherry influence is prominent, subsiding into big fruit with acidic qualities, cream, raspberries, tart fruit, and custard. Sundried fruits, nutty qualities, old wood, baking spices, and leather contribute to a medium-bodied, chewy texture. Notes of gingerbread, nutty chocolate, fruitcake, salted caramel, and rich oak are also found, with hints of apples, oranges, and a warming buzz of sherry spices. Finish
Long and lingering, with prominent oak, often dry and bitter, accompanied by wood, tobacco, and dark cocoa. It is very complex, with hints of smoke, buttery notes, sweet spice, dried fruits, and gentle oak. A beautiful dark Belgian chocolate taste can be found, along with a slightly grassy note and subtle spices, leaving a warm and satisfying glow.
