Description

Considered among the finest of the Speyside malt distilleries and one of the few of its age to still be family-owned. J&G Grant became its sole shareholders in 1898 and continue to run it in a traditional manner, notably using direct-fired stills to create a rich, weighty spirit.

Nose
A wonderful balance of Sherry. Notes of burnished leather, roasted nuts, fruite cake, toffee apples, sultana, damp peat, and sherry soaked raisins.
Palate
Sweet start. Light, tea-like tannins, treacle toffee, chestnut, ginger spiciness.
Finish
Embers, oak, Dundee cake. Very long. Becomes a little tight with time. Layered and complex. A very soothing whisky, with the depth and maturity desired in a whisky which you would expect from 50 years in the finest sherry casks.
