Description

Considered among the finest of the Speyside malt distilleries and one of the few of its age to still be family-owned. J&G Grant became its sole shareholders in 1898 and continue to run it in a traditional manner, notably using direct-fired stills to create a rich, weighty spirit. *

Nose
Opens on sherry overtones with a hint of toasted nuttiness and orange rind with a caramel/toffee oaky overture, leading onto piquant aromas of Heather in bloom. As it develops further, the sweet crisp notes of toasted barley evolve in perfect harmony with the spirit which has been distilled to perfection.
Palate
The Oloroso flavours in harmony with the spiciness from the bourbon cask provide a beautifully rich fruity flavour brimming with banana and kiwi. It's smooth, balanced and for a young spirit the quality of distillation can be enjoyed as the oak and barley pay homage to the spirit and its creator. It's a robust young spirit, not oak dominated, fresh & full of the joys of high quality distillation and the best of Speyside barley.
