Nose
Intensive sherry notes with sweet honey and floral aromas. Expected dried fruits (figs, dates), marzipan pastries, a little clove & ginger & oxidized/yeasty wine notes. Fresh grassy & crisp fruit, like walking through an orchard with fallen apples in damp grass.
Palate
Complex and round with fruits like raisins, plums and sultanas. A touch of dark chocolate, aromas of nuts, oak, well integrated and with some richness. Dry spicy oak, roasted walnuts, cocoa, dried apricot & dates, honey and black pepper, with a very slight sulphur note.
Finish
Long lasting. Astringent oak tannins, lots of woody spices, a little earthiness and a return of cocoa and dried fruits, leaning on raisins.
